A Word From David

Summer Stuff and Songs for Sunday

In case you have been stuck in an air-conditioned, dehumidified cave this week, you know that summer is here in full despite what the calendar may say. The hazy lazy days are upon us. Summer brings many joyous opportunities: beach time, lemonade time, baseball time, and so many other kinds of time.

A couple of notes on time: through the summer I will be at Western on Mondays and Thursdays around various travels on the ongoing, uh, joy of physical therapy! I’m happy to connect with you at other times, as well, and will be working from home Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

July 20 through August 2 I will be serving the larger church as pastor-in-residence at Camp Hanover, the camp and conference center of the Presbytery of the James and National Capital Presbytery. Hanover is holy ground for my family, and this will be the 20th consecutive summer that I have served as pastor-in-residence.

Summer time also means Western’s choir is taking some time off. So here’s some help for Sunday morning – links to recordings of the hymns so they will be familiar and we can all sing out!

Here in This Place

Come and Sing the Praise of the Lord

Heaven Is Singing for Joy

Let me know if sharing links for hymns before Sunday is helpful. If it’s useful we will continue the practice through the summer.

Peace,

David
