Session Notes
Hello again! This is Alec Resurreccion, again, with the public notes from the Session. Thank you to all who had good and constructive things to say about my notes from the previous month! I continue to look forward to providing these goings-on to the members of the congregation.
And as usual, these meetings are public, though not recorded, so please feel free to join us online or in person! Although, next Session meeting will take place in concert with the Elders from Church of the Pilgrims. During this meeting, we hope to gain insight into how the relationship between the two congregations has been developing so far and what the vision and next steps would be given our current status. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 21, though the time and place are still to be determined.
We had our meeting on April 14, which as previously announced was the second Monday of the month. This meeting was joined by the Deacons, and both parties had a great and productive discussion about the hospitality and pastoral functions of the church. A lot of these discussions are ongoing, so if you feel compelled to give a suggestion or comment, please reach out to any of the Elders or Deacons.
The Elders appreciate the enthusiasm and the insight brought to the table during the Spiritual Formation and Mission meetings. We also appreciate your passion and hospitality as we hosted the Palm Sunday joint worship service with Church of the Pilgrims. Although I personally and unfortunately had to miss it, I heard great things come out of that servic. We look forward to any more comments and ideas you may have regarding our siblings-in-Christ as the joint meeting approaches!
I mentioned in the last note that the Gay Men's Chorus will be performing at Western on May 31. More details will come out as the date approaches, but the only change so far I have to report is that the concert will be taking place at 4:30pm, instead of the previously reported 2pm.
Finally, talks continue to be ongoing regarding our roles and relationship with Miriam's Kitchen. These include plans for the terms of use of the building by Miriam's Kitchen and potential renovations to the area. However, these are far from final, so please look forward to any future updates as they come.
Thanks again for reading this note from the Session! As usual, if you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to any of us on the Session.
